About the Foundation for Healthcare Leaders of New York

The purpose of the Foundation for HLNY is to advance the development of professionals and students in healthcare management and administration. It also aims to further develop the interconnectivity of New York healthcare professionals and students within the field of healthcare management and administration by providing networking opportunities, mentoring programs and financial assistance.

The Foundation for HLNY is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization. Contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Please donate! These programs are funded through the generous support of individuals who are willing and able to invest in developing future leaders. You can donate generally to the Foundation or to our specific programs.

HLNY Achievement Award of Distinction Scholarship

Each year, a $1,500 stipend is awarded to one or more graduate students who have demonstrated academic excellence, community service, and a desire to become future healthcare leaders.

Leonard Achan Sr. Health Equity Scholarship

The Foundation presents the Leonard Achan Sr. Health Equity Scholarship Fund. The Leonard Achan Sr. Health Equity Scholarship Fund provides up to three scholarships each year in the amount of $1,500 and assigns a professional mentor for the final year of the student’s academic degree program.

Sganga Family Scholarship for Early Careerists

This scholarship supports healthcare professionals who have recently completed a healthcare degree program and are paying off student loans. The program recognizes student loan debt obligations can be barriers to career progression and professional development. The Sganga Family Scholarship provides a one-time financial payment of $5,000 for up to three recipients who are:

  • Employed in a professional role in a healthcare organization
  • Early careerists (defined by ACHE as being under 40 years of age)
  • Active member of HLNY/ACHE

Arthur & Sharon Gianelli Early Careerist ACHE Congress Scholarship

This scholarship offers a unique opportunity to attend the 2025 ACHE Congress on Healthcare Leadership, the premier event for healthcare executives.

Benefits:

  • Full coverage of registration costs for the ACHE Congress.
  • Exclusive mentoring session with Arthur Gianelli, FACHE.
  • Recognition at the HLNY Congress Dinner during the Congress.

Eligibility Highlights:

  • Active ACHE member under the age of 40.
