Chapter Board Member-At-Large

Board Members-at-Large serve as regional ambassadors for Healthcare Leaders of New York (HLNY), representing members within their assigned geographic areas while helping expand the chapter’s reach, engagement, and impact. As leaders of their Local Planning Councils, Members-at-Large build relationships with healthcare professionals, develop local programming, and ensure the needs and perspectives of their regions are represented within chapter leadership.

Working collaboratively with the Board of Directors, committees, and volunteer leaders, Members-at-Large help strengthen HLNY’s connection to the healthcare community while advancing the chapter’s strategic priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Local Planning Council within an assigned geographic region and recruit volunteer members to support local initiatives.
• Plan and deliver at least one in-person educational program annually within the assigned territory.
• Serve as HLNY’s primary ambassador within the region by promoting chapter programs, events, and membership opportunities.
• Build relationships with healthcare organizations and professionals to increase member engagement and expand the chapter’s visibility.
• Partner with the Vice President and Sponsorship Committee to support sponsor engagement and strengthen relationships with assigned organizational partners.
• Serve as a voting member of the Board of Directors and actively participate in governance and strategic initiatives.
• Contribute to the Program Committee and support the planning of educational programming by identifying speakers, venues, and emerging topics.
• Serve on at least one additional HLNY committee during each year of the term.
• Ensure a smooth leadership transition by preparing and onboarding the incoming Board Member-at-Large.

Qualifications

• Previous HLNY Board or committee leadership experience of at least one year with demonstrated commitment to the chapter. Prior ACHE chapter leadership experience may be considered, when applicable.
• Strong organizational, relationship-building, communication, and project management skills.
• Member in good standing with HLNY for at least one year.

Term of Office

• Two-year term.

Time Commitment

• Approximately 7–10 hours per month.
• Attend the ACHE Congress on Healthcare Leadership, when possible.
• Regular attendance at Executive Board and Board of Directors meetings.
• Active participation in the chapter’s signature programs and events, including the Annual Gala & Awards Ceremony, Mini-Congress, Cocktails with the Chiefs, Past Presidents Boat Cruise, Holiday Party, and other key chapter activities.

Maintain an active presence in supporting committee initiatives, regional programming, sponsorship engagement, and chapter leadership throughout the term.
