Opening Remarks: Anaeze Offodile II, MD, MPH – Chief Strategy Officer, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

Moderator: Georges Leconte, MPA, FAB, RRT

With over twenty years of progressive leadership experience, Georges Leconte is a seasoned healthcare professional dedicated to improving the health and well-being of communities across New York.  He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem.  Over his 30+ year tenure in the health care field, he has held several key leadership positions, most recently as the Senior Associate Executive Director for the Ancillary Services Division at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, a 545-bed Level I Trauma Center. Overseeing a staff of over 600, his division encompassed the Biomedical Engineering, Cardiology, Pathology, Pharmacy, Radiology, Radiation Oncology, and Respiratory Care departments.  He has previously served as the Regional Director of Elmhurst and Queens Hospitals’  Respiratory Care Services, and as the Regional Assistant Director of Respiratory Therapy at St. Luke’s\Roosevelt Hospital Center in Manhattan. Mr. Leconte’ s work also extends into  education, as he has held appointments as an adjunct instructor and student advisor at New York University, and an advisory board member at the Borough of Manhattan Community College.  Some of his most notable accomplishments at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst include spearheading the development of an elective cardiac angioplasty program (originally one of only five such programs in New York State) alongside a rapid response team program; securing funding for and implementing a state-of-the-art CT/biplane for neuro-intervention,  a CT/simulator for radiotherapy, an MRI suite, an angiography suite, and a 3-D mammography unit. He successfully completed the automation of the hospital’s laboratories, and the adoption of the Epic / H2O electronic medical record. He chairs the hospital’s Cardiac Patient Outcome Research Trials (C-PORT) and Hospital-wide ICU Committees.  Mr. Leconte holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Hunter College, and a Master of Public Administration degree from Alfred University, in addition to being a licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist. He is a graduate of both the NYC Health + Hospitals Senior Leader Fellowship Program and of the NYC Health + Hospitals Leadership Development Program (at Baruch College), as well as the NYC Leadership Institute.  He is past president of the New York Regional Chapter of the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE). He is also a member of the American Association of Respiratory Care, and the Lambda Beta Society (the national honor society for the respiratory care profession).  During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Leconte put his Respiratory Therapy skills to use, joining clinical staff on the frontline to provide care to those affected by the virus. He also furthered that work through donations of PPE and supplies to organizations like Vin Gopal Civic Association to help combat COVID-19 in India, and the Association Medicale Haitienne A l’Entranger (AMHE) to assist with medical care for the Haiti earthquake victims of 2021.  Mr. Leconte’ s professional work and work in the community have earned him various awards and recognition from organizations including the New York State Assembly, NYC Health + Hospitals, and the National Association of Health Services Executives. He has also received awards from Health Education Action League (HEAL) for Haiti, in recognition of his major contributions to their efforts to provide nursing training and health science education programs in Haiti.

Panelist: LaKisha Mack, MSHA

LaKisha joined Memorial Sloan Kettering in 2023 as the inaugural Chief Administrative Officer. A seasoned healthcare business leader with more than two decades of experience in institutional finance, operations, compliance, strategic planning, budget development, and human resources, LaKisha joined MSK from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Over the course of her career at UAB, she held several executive positions within accounting and finance, successfully driving collaborations across many business functions within the large and complex institution.  In her role at MSK, LaKisha directs the evolution and improvement of all business processes. She is responsible for the management and oversight of several critical enterprise-wide infrastructure functions outside of hospital operations, including risk management and compliance, research administration, facilities management and real estate development, and supply chain.  Along with MSK senior leadership, LaKisha will advance the excellent work of the teams within those divisions, identifying and building upon new opportunities for improved collaboration and efficiency.  In her role as Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Administration at UAB, she ensured policy compliance for the Heersink School of Medicine (HSOM) and the university, participated in strategic planning, and collaborated with the university and health system on all administrative and financial activities. As lead administrator, she oversaw the development of the HSOM Dean’s Office $900 million annual budget, and also led the implementation of the University’s Resource Centered Management (RCM) budget allocation model within the HSOM and coordinated the Academic Enrichment Fund (AEF) funding and approval process.  A native of Long Beach, California, LaKisha attended Samford University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and UAB where she earned a Masters in Health Administration. She and her husband Donald have one daughter, Morgan.

Panelist: Paul Coyne, DNP, MBA, MSF, RN, AGPCNP-BC

Paul Coyne, DNP, MBA, MSF, RN, AGPCNP-BC, is senior vice president, Patient Care Services and Chief Nurse Executive at Hospital for Special Surgery leading a team of more than 1,500 specialized nurses, advanced practice providers, and clinical professionals across the continuum of care at locations in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and Florida, overseeing support and advocacy for quality, patient safety, staff engagement and collaboration, and patient satisfaction.  He is a founding member of SONSIEL, an inaugural commissioner on the Commission for Nurse Reimbursement, and co-founder of Inspiren, an award-winning healthcare technology company.  Due to his unique knowledge of the interplay of clinical practice, finance, and technology, he has been internationally recognized, having been named Crain’s 40 under 40, Top 25 Innovator by Modern Healthcare, AI Person of the Year by the Global AI Awards, as well as Healthcare Leader Under 40 by Becker’s and Business Insider.  He has authored numerous books and articles, and his inaugural book of poetry will be published later this year.  He serves on the Board of Advisors at Columbia University School of Nursing and lives in New York with his wife and son.
