Healthcare Leaders of New York’s (HLNY) Diversity and Inclusion Committee focuses on promoting diversity and inclusion in the healthcare profession. Aligned with the commitment to diversity from our national organization, the American College of Healthcare Executive (ACHE), HLNY values and actively promotes diversity because diverse teams serve as a catalyst for improved decision making, increased productivity, and a competitive advantage.
If you have taken the #123Pledge and would like your organization to be considered for the HLNY Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Award to be presented this fall, please forward your application (hyperlink application) to Diversity@hlny.org by or before Monday, April 30, 2018. If you haven’t taken the pledge, get started now by visiting the #123Pledge (hyperlink webpage http://www.equityofcare.org/pledge/index.shtml) for more information.
HLNY’s Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Award will be presented at our annual diversity event this fall to a person, team or organization that has achieved diversity performance targets.
The diversity performance targets are sourced to the American Hospital Association and Institute for Diversity in Health Management #123Pledge. The targets include several key metrics for healthcare organizations to achieve greater diversity:
- Increasing the collection and use of race, ethnicity and language preference data
- Increasing cultural competency training
- Increasing diversity in governance and leadership
- Improve and strengthen community partnerships
