In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, we asked our Healthcare Leaders of New York (HLNY) member Carla Sison, MBA:
How can healthcare systems better support the professional growth and leadership advancement of AAPI individuals across all roles and levels?
✨ Carla Sison shared: “There are several ways to help AAPI professionals thrive and lead in healthcare roles. Specifically, through culturally matched mentorship and with senior leaders sponsoring and actively promoting high potential AAPI professionals for leadership roles not just mentor them. In addition, senior leadership should highlight AAPI leaders in their contributions in internal communications, public platforms and give them the opportunity to speak on panels, lead projects, and represent the healthcare organization.”
This insight highlights the importance of intentional leadership, cultural humility, and meaningful allyship in creating truly inclusive healthcare environments.
Thank you Carla for being an exemplary leader!
