In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, we asked our Healthcare Leaders of New York (HLNY) member Anjana Sreedhar, MPA (she/her/hers):
How can healthcare systems better support the professional growth and leadership advancement of AAPI individuals across all roles and levels?
✨ Anjana Sreedhar shared: “Health systems can best support the leadership and growth of AAPI team members by recognizing the stereotypes and implicit bias that limit advancement for our community. This can include amplifying the voices of AAPI members who share improvements/suggestions and creating a culture of psychological safety where people feel empowered to speak up. It is also important for health systems to recognize that not all AAPI lived experiences are the same, and that individualized support for each team member is critical.”
Their powerful reflection remind us that advancing equity requires intentional action, cultural awareness, and allyship at every level of an organization.
Thank you Anjana for all that you do!
