As we conclude Black History Month and look forward to beginning Women’s History Month, the Healthcare Leaders of New York (HLNY) Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee is honored and privileged to spotlight Dr. Yvonne S. Thornton, MD.  She is the first Black woman in the United States to be Board-certified in high-risk obstetrics (Maternal-Fetal Medicine) and the first to be accepted into the highly selective New York Obstetrical Society. She is Professor Emeritus of Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as a musician and is a national bestselling author. We are proud to highlight leaders that contribute to the healthcare field!
