Charles N. Cornell, MD, is an attending orthopaedic surgeon at HSS and a Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Cornell completed his residency in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at HSS and subsequently finished a fellowship in Orthopaedic Traumatology at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and admitted as a Fellow to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.

Catherine H. MacLean, MD, PhD, is the Chief Value Medical Officer at HSS, where she leads the development and execution of strategies to measure, report and improve health care value. She was previously a Vice President at WellPoint where she led quality measurement, reporting and improvement activities, case management and supported the development of value-based purchasing programs. She maintains appointments at RAND and UCLA where her research has focused on the development and evaluation of quality measures and quality improvement programs. Dr. MacLean has chaired or served on numerous quality– and value–related technical expert panels for the NIH, CMS, NCQA and other national committees.

Robert Nolan, Vice President, Payor Strategy & Contracting, joined HSS in 2012. Prior to joining HSS, Mr. Nolan was Senior Vice President of the National Network Operations area of Aetna’s Medicaid Division. During his tenure at Aetna, he was also President of Aetna’s NY HMO and ran the Northeast Region of Healthcare Delivery. Mr. Nolan has extensive experience in start-up and turnaround environments and has negotiated and managed healthcare costs representing up to $6 billion in annual medical expenses for 2.7 million insured lives.

Pantelis Karnoupakis, Director, Payor Strategy & Contracting, joined HSS in July 2012. Prior to joining HSS, he was with Emblem Health for 10 years, overseeing areas in Claims, Provider Contracting and Business Technology Solutions. Since coming to HSS, Mr. Karnoupakis has been part of various Healthcare Reform initiatives, such as Medicare BPCI and the GE Bundled Payment contract. As part of Payor Strategy & Contracting, he continues to engage in efforts to keep the Hospital current with all relevant reform provisions. |
