A Welcome Letter – HLNY 2020 President

Fellow Members,

The year 2020 has officially brought a decade to an end. In the last 10 years of serving on the board, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of you at events, appreciating the value HLNY brings to your work and professional growth from stories heard. Sharing admiration for our connection, I am honored to serve as this year’s President.

Over this same period, it has become evident that our Chapter has grown as rich as its history and so it would be remiss of me if I did not mention those before me. Gratitude to our previous leaders who have positioned us to be the largest ACHE Chapter in the country. They’ve built an organization prided on offering exceptional educational events, a gateway to professional development and a strong network of members. Collectively, our combined knowledge and experience is what sets our organization apart and continues to propel our organization forward.

This year will be no different. We have a robust calendar of events in 2020 and we’re going to do more of what we do best. We will be actively promoting more cross/functional collaboration, investing in education and our next generation of healthcare leaders. To the extent that we are also introducing a new role on our board to support Early Careerists and Higher Education Network Members to ensure that the next generation of executives are prepared to meet the challenges of the future and become those who will one day sit in CEO positions in our organizations. We will take hold of the opportunity and strategic imperative to cultivate the next generation of leaders that will reinforce our position at the forefront of professional enrichment and continuing education.

HLNY will also put in place measures to increase our digital footprint. Just as Google or even Amazon aren’t limited to a single product or category, HLNY should not be defined by the boundaries of offering physical events. Our mission is to advance healthcare leadership and management excellence through professional enrichment and continuing education of our members. We will leverage digital capabilities to create new ways of engaging with members, even if HLNY is not always the sole provider of their physical education needs.

I welcome you to accelerate your journey and together, let’s make this year, your year of discovery. It’s about discovering in places you thought where empty. Let HLNY be the invisible force, stringing connections that make up your network even when you can’t see them. HLNY ensures you are always connected, pulling you forward. Bringing you closer towards your professional goals.

I hope to see and hear from you throughout 2020. Have a healthy, safe, and happy New Year!
