In these challenging times, it is the extraordinary spirit embodied in the character and perseverance of those who bring hope that will positively impact the communities we serve. My heartfelt thanks goes out to each of you for all the tremendous and tireless work in battling this pandemic. It is my privilege to be working alongside healthcare leaders like you, and it is with humility and honor that I serve as HLNY’s president this year.
In considering our path forward, “Connected Community” is HLNY’s focus for 2021 to expand upon the common thread in many 2020 seminars about building resiliency, preventing burnout and improving well-being. As we create the “next normal” together, we hope HLNY will lean into community core values by strengthening our bonds in building relationships through embracing diversity, building trust, and serving humanity. With multiple facets to approaching “community,” whether by region, demographics, background, experience, life stage, alma maters, workplaces, and others; HLNY will be providing added avenues to encourage and facilitate developing connections with new programs and events. We look forward to meaningful engagement through our usual programming, along with new volunteer activities for charitable causes; virtual meet-ups; and special events celebrating Diversity and Inclusion.
Today, the continued growth of HLNY stands on the shoulders of past leaders who set a foundation on engaging our membership and developing valuable educational and networking programs. With deepest gratitude, I especially want to recognize our immediate past president, Nick Bilas, who has navigated HLNY through the uncertain times of 2020 and established digital capabilities to innovate programming for the coming years. We hope Nick enjoys the token of our appreciation for his year of leadership to remember the unique time of 2020.
I look forward to what our exceptional 2021 board will accomplish in increasing breadth and depth in our Connected Community. We are here for you and for each other. We want to hear from you, so please don’t hesitate to reach out and contact me at email@example.com or any of our board members. Here’s to a healthy and happy New Year!
