Mineola, NY – Stephanie Meier, Administrative Director, Obstetrics & Gynecology at Winthrop-University Hospital, has been recognized as one of the 40 Under 40 by Long Island Business News. The Award recognizes outstanding members of the business community on Long Island under the age of 40 who have a proven track record of career success, mentoring and involvement in their profession, and who have made time to give back to their community. The award was presented at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury on January 30, 2014.
Ms. Meier has been with Winthrop since May 2010. In her current role as Administrative Director of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, which she has held since March 2011, Ms. Meier oversees the daily operations of OB/GYN services at Winthrop.
Under Ms. Meier’s leadership:
- Delivery volume has grown by 250 discharges in one year, and she has led the Hospital’s U.S. News & World Report program, garnering Best Children’s Hospital awards from 2011 through 2013.
- She initiated the expansion of the Maternal Fetal Medicine division, which has increased patient volume at Winthrop.
- Her dedicated efforts have also been instrumental in helping the Department receive recognition in Becker’s Hospital Review’s “100 Hospitals with Great Women’s Health Programs” in 2012.
- Ms. Meier is also involved with Winthrop’s Women’s Wellness OB/GYN – a women’s clinic in Hempstead which seeks to provide high-quality care to underserved families in the area. The clinic has flourished under her guidance.
Ms. Meier takes great pride in being actively involved in her industry and giving back to the community. She is Vice President of Healthcare Leaders of New York (HLNY), having been a member since 2007, which has given her the opportunity to network and connect with colleagues. Ms. Meier also serves on the board of Long Island Women’s Agenda, where she currently is Vice President of Health.
The recipient of the Early Career Healthcare Executive Regent’s Award, Health Leaders of New York in 2013, Ms. Meier has taught Introduction to Health Administration at SUNY at Old Westbury. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The College of New Jersey and a Master of Health Services Administration from The George Washington University. She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
Ms. Meier resides in Port Washington, NY, with her husband and young son.
